the last few centuries,
i have seen some lonely planets.
pinpoints of lives and tribes of people.
i have no nostalgia for the future.
along the passages of nowhere
i have stopped on the way home
in places so oblivious and transitory.
and as often as not, so ordinary.
the rest of the time,
i have been running along the forbidden routes
‘away away away so that i may fly to thee’*
i will crown my soul with solitude.
and one day during a geographical accident,
with an elegant and unaccented voice,
will call to the world:
madams et monsineurs
je suis parce que je sius.
or perhaps when my plane is taking off,
i will stay behind and run along eternity
away away away
i will climb to the top of my rigid soul
and sing a song with no music.
